For one week, just before Halloween, Gallery 1065 will become a home to more than fifty monsters, all drawn by the Toronto artist Inna Gertsberg from the imagination of everyday people.

A Foot & A Half is a group show of original artworks that are modest in size and friendly in price—but full of personality. We are looking for work in any medium, from painting and photography to sculpture, printmaking, textile, drawing and whatever else makes sense on a gallery wall or plinth. Every accepted artwork must measure 18 inches / 46 cm or smaller in every direction, including its frame, and be priced at $250 CAD or less.
Think of it as a densely hung, highly collectible year-end show: lots of artists, lots of work, and a good chance that someone walks in, falls for something and takes it home.
Please submit the artwork title, medium, dimensions, price and a clear image of each piece.
Submission guidelines
Artists may submit up to two works that fit the exhibition criteria.
Work must be original, 18 inches / 46 cm or smaller in every direction, including frame, and priced at $250 CAD or less.
Please provide clear photos of the finished work as it will appear in the exhibition. Include the frame if the work is framed.
Name image files as follows: ARTISTNAME_ARTWORKTITLE.jpg
All accepted work must be ready to hang, with secure hanging hardware attached. A limited number of plinths are available.
All work must be for sale, with prices listed in Canadian dollars.
Artworks must be dropped off in person during the scheduled drop-off hours. Gallery 1065 cannot accept mailed or couriered works for open-call exhibitions.
Commission: Gallery 1065 retains a 30% commission on sales.
Hanging fee: $35 for the first accepted piece and $10 for each additional accepted piece.

Art I Fact
Art I Fact explores the unfolding dialogue between urban landscape and nature where experience, material presence and environmental change converge. These artists’ imaginations were sparked by the discovery of a wind-blown bird’s nest woven through with a plastic blue and green ribbon. This object asks to examine our impact as humans on this earth. Since then, they have joined forces to observe, collect assemble and draw revealing traces of place, memory and transformation. Through painting, collage, drawing and assemblage each artist responds to life in the once wild and now overbearing urban environment.

Christine Hoeldke studied at Central Tech Adult Art Program, where she received the Outstanding Student Award. She has taken numerous workshops at Toronto School of Art. She has shown at Central Tech Gallery, Toronto School of Art, Arcadia Gallery, BMO Gallery, Propeller Gallery, and the Textile Museum, Toronto.
Carole Milon is a self-taught life-long artist, studying with individual artists along the way. Selected juried shows in Toronto include at John B. Aird, Propeller, Leslie Grove, Japanese Paper Place, Toronto Public Library and Etobicoke Civic Centre galleries as well as elsewhere in Ontario at the Orillia Museum of Art and History and Rails End in Haliburton.
Rewilding Toronto
The David Suzuki Foundation teaming up with ink-maker Jason Logan, artist Pam Lostracco and Gallery 1065 co-curator Jode Roberts to transform the gallery into an immersive paint-by-numbers mural inspired by Toronto’s urban nature. But there was a twist: the colours were made from ingredients foraged in the neighbourhood around the gallery.
The show opened on Friday, September 4, revealing Pam’s wild mural throughout the gallery. At 7pm, there was a casual sneak peak where you could drop by and meet the artists.
On September 5 and 6, Jason led foraging and natural ink-making workshops with 40 participants. They gathered leaves, berries, bark, flowers and more, then turned them into a locally made palette for the mural.
Participants started filling in the paint-by-numbers mural with the foraged inks from September 8 to 10 and the opening party was Thursday, September 10, from 6–9 p.m
The show ran until Sunday, September 20 and included 215 participants that made ink and painted the walls.

Artist Statement: “Insomnia" began with a crash, a real one, violent enough to split my life in two: before and after. I lost a close friend in the accident and fell into a coma. When I came back, neither the world was the same, nor was I. Sleep became unfamiliar to me, not just physically, but on a deeper level. My mind no longer knew how or when to shut down. Memories echoed like subcutaneous noise, devouring the nights. I lived through depression. Through silence. Through erosion. Twice, I chose not to continue. But I stayed. And in the heart of that darkness, something began: creating. For me, Insomnia is a form of survival, an attempt to give shape to grief, fatigue, and loss.
World Pup Show
Gallery 1065 is inviting artists to submit work for an upcoming group exhibition titled: World Pup 2026.
Celebrating all things DOG during World Cup fever in Toronto, this show will include artwork featuring dogs, about dogs and inspired by dogs.
The show will be hung at "dog level" and we will be welcoming all dogs on leash to enjoy. Toronto Dog Moms Group will be visiting with possible dog treats.

Then and Now by textile artist Tracy Gorman
Come join us for the opening of Then & Now, Tracy Gorman’s first (!) solo show on Thursday May 28 at 6-8 pm.
Tracy is a textile artist and one of the co-curators of Gallery 1065. Her canvas of choice is a dress-embellished and manipulated to address themes of self, environment and other societal issues.
Hailing from Eastern Canada, her mother and aunt nurtured her arts and crafts. She has since refined her skills and vision through her work as a professional costumer and in fine arts studies and practice.
Tracy’s works have been seen previously in numerous Nuit Blanche Installations at Spadina Museum. Check out her art at @tagcreates.

Schindler and Lynch use collage and fragmentation to consider what cannot be fully restored or seen the same way twice. Schindler's reconstructed photographs are shaped by memory, its extension, preservation, and occasional loss, while Lynch's layered imagery evokes emotional tension and perceptual instability.
Together, the works suggest that every image carries multiple lives. Like memory, they shift with each encounter, refracted through time and the fragile persistence of recollection.

National Portrait Gallery of Canada of Bloorcourt
The National Portrait Gallery of Canada of Bloorcourt is a gloriously unofficial national institution showcasing portraits by 65 artists. Open from January 9 to January 18 at Gallery 1065 (1065 Bloor Street W), open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6pm.
